Why UPVC?
When
considering
replacement windows what material is
best? There are a number of materials
you can consider, wood, aluminum, and
UPVC.
In my opinion UPVC offers the best
solution for anyone wanting a cost
effective low maintenance option. These
windows are relatively cheap to produce
and due to the nature of UPVC require
little maintenance other than a wipe
with a damp cloth now and again. Wood
frames on the other hand are expensive
and require constant attention,
painting, varnishing, striping and
sanding are jobs that are needed to
maintain wooden frame windows, failure
to do this leads wooden windows to
quickly deteriorate. Wood is also
susceptible to a number of pests such as
wood worm if the wood isn't correctly
prepared and looked after.
Many of you reading this will now be
thinking, "but UPVC is ugly it lacks the
character of wood!" It is a point well
made, natural wood does have a look and
feel that is unique, however UPVC can be
beautiful and offers an enormous amount
of finishes that can truly compliment
the aesthetic of your home. There are
numerous finishes that mimic the look of
wood and also the possibility of colored
UPVC, which opens up a truly mind
boggling amount of options.
UPVC due to it's nature can also be
molded making it ideal for archways and
circular window designs. When compared
to the amount of work required to obtain
the same shapes using wood, there is no
contest.
Combine these options with the
affordability that uPVC provides and you
can't go far wrong.
